The Project

MLEARN is an innovative project, the first of its kind in delivering accredited teacher training programmes on mlearning within mainstream education for primary, secondary and special schools.

Our aim is to embed mobile technologies (handhelds) within the mainstream by integrating training on mlearning for both initial teacher training and in service training/CPD. We will challenge teachers to think creatively about mobile learning and develop their confidence to try new ideas within the whole school curriculum.

Our baseline for the project is that we have identified skills gaps within teacher training for both new and existing teachers.  We will incorporate products that are new to some teachers, but the project identifies that many previous projects have focused on technology above teaching and excitement above evidence; we will address this issue by using a more strategic and sustainable model focusing on teachers’ learning at an institutional level, training teachers and cascading the knowledge and skills acquired.
